19 years and evolving. Mission unchanged.
From the very beginning, Youth Basketball Guyana was never simply about organizing games. It was about building a pathway.
Our original mission remains clear and continues to guide our work:
1. To build an expansive structure for youth basketball, strengthening the links between grassroots participation, school programmes, and elite-level competition.
2. To provide opportunities for our youngsters to advance in education, leadership, and social development, as we intentionally shape model student-athletes.
If you are between the ages of 6 and 21, and you have a desire to play, learn, and grow within a structured and supportive framework, regardless of where you live in Guyana, our commitment is to create access and opportunity for you.
As we prepare to tip off the 2026 youth basketball season next weekend, March 6–8, with the Fives Challenge Series and Skills Competition, there is a renewed sense of anticipation.
This year’s regional championships will be our largest to date, highlighted by historic first-time test tournaments in Regions 2 and 5, and continued expansion across Georgetown, East Coast, East Bank, Berbice, and Linden.
The KFC National School Basketball Festival, set for June 28 to July 5, followed by the All-Star event on July 11, will also introduce a new format and welcome new teams into the national structure.
What began as a single-division tournament and grassroots initiative has evolved into a national, multilayer youth development structure.Yet the purpose remains unchanged: to build young people, create pathways, and strengthen communities through the game.
Stay engaged with Youth Basketball Guyana on Facebook and our website as we share what promises to be another defining year.
19 years strong. Still building. Still believing. Still evolving.
